Poolhouse in Marin County
An earlier poolhouse on this site had flooded during a wet winter and the owners decided it was time to rebuild and raise the new structure above current FEMA levels (39” above the pool deck). The existing pool was to stay. The new building functions as a sometimes guesthouse, a sometimes home office as well as a summer poolside entertaining area. The exterior materials match the other existing structures on the property with the clean white wood interior designed to be indestructible and light filled. The art-collecting owners are fond of photos depicting water –hence the “wave” backsplash at the outdoor kitchen evoking California seaside which is not too far from this whimsical little accessory building.
