The owners of this San Francisco home, a couple with grown children, were ready to leave their three story family house and move to a mid-rise apartment with 180 degree views of the city by the bay. A showplace entertaining area that could also accommodate comfortable, unpretentious living presented a program of two seemingly conflicting requirements.
We converted one bedroom into a den/study which opens off the living room to provide views in three directions. Rich woods and midtone colors recall the Art deco era of the building. A cozy kitchen adorned with '20s tile and and contemporary chandelier hint at the classic meets contemporary theme that is carried throughout. .
