Mount Tamalpais School, Mill Valley
The additions to Mount Tamalpais School were a part of Phase 1 of a 10-year master plan update to the school campus, originally built as a public school in the 1960’s. Currently a private elementary school for grades K-8, the additions include a new language arts classroom, a large canopy to enclose an existing courtyard, and an entry pergola to mark the “front door”. The design reflects elements of the newer ‘Founders Hall’ added to the school a decade previously and brings a sense of celebration and unity to the more mundane built elements of the campus. The additions were completed over a very tight two and a half month construction schedule.
